Extended Stay

I’ve posted about the Hotel California effect before and today it seems to be in full force once again.

While all the bloodwork numbers and test results continue to be improving, there has been a decision by the infection control group to change the IV antibiotic to an even more specific product. However, the current plan is to run this IV for 10 days. It seems I’ll be here for a while.

I’m of two minds on this, one is the hospital is a safe cocoon and everything I might need is here. Example, this morning one of the senior doctors thought my left leg was swollen and there was possibility of a blood clot. In about an hour I’d had an ultrasound of the leg which showed no problems.

The other side is that I’ve been here a long time now, and a jail break for home is starting to look pretty good

Did somebody say numbers?

I’m “normal!”
More in the normal zone
Still needs some work

Side Note:: I’m amazingly tired all the time. If I hold still too long, lose focus on what I’ m doing or close my eyes, I’m asleep instantly. Seems crazy but I guess this is the body repairing itself.

Thanks to all who are on the journey with us. Your texts, emails, and prayers are very much appreciated, ❤️

  1. It’s a remarkable turnaround! I would be there if I could, but, I have a red throat, which means bad news to someone in your shape, and because I love you, I will continue to love you from far…besides I don’t think I could walk that far either! We continue to carry you in our prayers and appreciate all the news! Love and hugs! June

  2. Wow. Great numbers in such a short period of time. God must be at work here. Many more good things to come my friend. It was inspiring to spend a few hours with you and Shirley. Hanging in there with you both in spirit and prayer. 🙏🏼😎😎❤️❤️😎😎

  3. WE BELIEVE IN THE POWER OF PRAYER.
Rachael and I have been earnestly praying day and night for your breakthrough and so we rejoice with you and Shirley for the good report.

  4. That’s wonderful news. Those charts are amazing!
I wonder if the failure of your bone marrow was due to a virus. At one point my hemoglobin dropped precipitously and it looked like my bone marrow was not producing it. I needed transfusions for several weeks as well as Grastofil injections. My doctor suspected a Parvovirus which is known to suppress hemoglobin production in immunocompromised people. A standard test did not show it but she located a non-standard test at a lab at a different hospital that in fact showed that I had a Parvovirus infection. There’s no known treatment or cure for it (it’s actually a pretty minor childhood virus commonly known as “slapped-cheek”). Eventually I recovered and my hemoglobin bounced back.
    Onward and upward!

    1. Hey Ernie, Thanks for the info. Drs. here are puzzled about the WBC drop and rebound. At one point they were essentially saying my bone marrow just wasn’t producing anything. HgB has also been up & down. I’ll mention the Parvovirus and see what they think. With no known treatment or cure they may just say “that’s interesting 😊” I’m just happy that the bone marrow once again if producing!
